The Bachelor of Computing & Cyber Security at Canberra is designed to build the attributes and skills for market-ready graduates seeking a career in software an cyber security engineering, industry, innovation, management, operations and research. We introduce you to the latest social and political issues in this dynamic sector with computer science and mathematics fundamentals, whilst building skills and understanding of information systems, networks and computer programming within cyber security.

This degree will develop your creativity, problem-solving ability, critical thinking and communication skills which are important in any career within or outside of the defence force. These skills will prepare you to deal with technical issues in a computing environment, and help you develop intellectual and practical problem-solving skills through studies across a range of computing specialisations.

In this program, you’ll apply your skills and knowledge across gaming, hardware, systems, networking and the Internet, and learn how to secure these environments.

  • Network design and operation.

In your final year, you will complete a capstone team project with real-world application within the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and civilian domains to demonstrate your abilities in computing and cybersecurity.

The Bachelor of Computing & Cyber Security is a three-year program at pass level. Students who complete the pass degree at an appropriate level may be admitted to an additional one-year Honours program – Computing & Cyber Security (Honours).

Chief of the Defence Force Program

The Chief of the Defence Force (CDF) programs offer the opportunity for studentsentering Canberra with a high Entrance Rank, and who maintain a high level ofperformance in their studies, to undertake research in a range of disciplines that willdevelop their critical thinking and independent research skills beyond that available inthe standard bachelor degree programs.

The range of CDF programs is characterised by theinclusion of specialist courses in critical analysis and/orresearch methods appropriate to the area of study.All programs also include discipline-specific researchprojects. The research projects will be supervisedby academic staff from the relevant discipline. Withthe approval of the Head of School, multi- or cross-disciplinaryprojects may be undertaken. Students inthe research courses may work independently or aspart of a team, depending on the nature of the projectundertaken, though all students will submit an individualassessment. The final assessment will be based on a writtenpaper or report and oral presentations.

Throughout the program, students will be engaged incohort activities so as to develop and maintain their interestand continuing involvement in the program via invitedlectures, seminars, general reading and social events.
