Sally McKay's work is located at the intersection of art and science with a focus on the development of Artificially Intelligent Digital Human Characters to promote preventative health in Huntington's Disease.

Non-Traditional Research Outputs

  • In collaboration with the ARC Laureate felt Experience & Empathy Lab [fEEL] an Artificially Intelligent (AI) Digital Human Character ‘Sophie’ has been developed using innovative participatory design approaches underpinned by lived experience in the neurodegenerative condition Huntington's Disease and the practice of Preventive Neurology.
  • Sophie may be viewed on life-sized screens (to create a sense of presence) or on a range of smaller devices that will enable research to a global community aimed at understanding to what extent and an AI Character can offer peer support, motivation, self-efficacy and knowledge transfer for Preventive Neurology.
