Mathematics and Statistics students communicate their research at annual Postgraduate Conference
The conference provided a platform for our students to showcase their current work.

The School of Mathematics and Statistics held its 11th annual Postgraduate Conference on Thursday 8 August 2024 at ÁñÁ«¹ÙÍø's Colombo Theatres.Â
The event featured 37 presentations, comprising research talks and lengthier plenary sessions, across Applied Mathematics, Pure Mathematics, and Statistics.
Additionally, we introduced 16 new postgraduate students during a Hello Session where they each delivered flash talks about their research.
The three plenary sessions were delivered exceptionally by Agus Soenjaya (Applied), Christian Bagshaw (Pure), and Qian Jin (Statistics).Â
Congratulations to the winners of the 2024 Postgraduate Conference Best Talk Awards:
- Applied Maths: Josef Bisits
- Pure Maths: Yerlan Nessipbayev
- Statistics: Daniel Chee
- People's Choice: Ben Maslen.
The day concluded with a networking reception in the Colombo foyer, allowing attendees to connect and unwind.    Â
