Looking for professional experience before you graduate? Join a team of students to tackle a multidisciplinary science project for an industry partner!

Ìýcan count as a 6 UOC science or free elective credit for eligible students.

The project experience provides an opportunity for students to apply and contextualise their disciplinary knowledge and transferrable skills on real-world science industry projects. Under the guidance of academic supervisors and industry mentors, students will work collaboratively in multidisciplinary science teams to deliver an outcome for industry partner. Partners and projects change year-on-year. New opportunities will be advertised to relevant student cohorts via email and the .Ìý

Students will develop teamwork, project management and problem-solving skills in a professional context and enhance their employability through experiential learning and engagement with industry. The Industry Project experience will involveÌýweeklyÌýÌý3-hour workshops as part of the course requirements, with additional meetings and project work to be completed at negotiable times.Ìý

What kind of projects are available?Ìý

Projects and Industry Partners change on a yearly basis. Regardless of the project and partner, you can expect to be:

  • Tackling a live, real-world science project offered by an external organisation from industry, government or not-for-profit sectorÌý
  • Developing solutions and recommendations that will make a meaningful contribution to the organisation's core businessÌý
  • Applying your disciplinary knowledge to a complex project that requires a multidisciplinary science approach to solveÌý

Eligibility

To apply, students must:

  • have a WAM of 65 or above
  • have completed a minimum of 60 units of credit
  • be completing a science program or major in a relevant discipline for the advertised project.
