I am a medically trained epidemiologist with expertise in both field epidemiology and mathematical modelling of infectious diseases. I have expertise in analyzing linked health and administrative data to determine burden of infectious diseases (for diseases such as COVID-19 and Flu). I have expertise in designing and conducting population based epidemiological studies to understand the transmission history and risk factors of diseases such as dengue, chikungunya, Japanese encephalitis, hepatitis E, and cholera. I have particular expertise in using deterministic compartmental models to assess impact of climate change on infectious disease transmission and control. I have further expertise in evaluating models of care for tuberculosis and co-epidemics of tuberculosis and diabetes mellitus.

Through my research, I aim to identify vulnerable groups susceptible to infectious diseases and to generate insights into potential preventive measures to mitigate future epidemics and pandemics. I utilize both routinely collected disease surveillance data and population-based epidemiological studies to answer policy-relevant research questions.

I also use compartmental mathematical models to uncover hidden burden of infectious diseases and to evaluate the long-term epidemiological implications of climate change on these diseases.ÌýIn my previous research,ÌýI evaluated the impact of climate change on dengue transmission levels in the 21^stÌýCentury across various climate change scenarios.

I worked with public health agencies/stakeholders to identify research gaps and priorities. Previously, I served as a physician scientist at the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (icddr,b), and contributed as a team member to the COVID-19 response team at NSW Health, where I played a role in developing processes for data acquisition and reporting.
