Overview
The Bachelor of Medicinal Chemistry (Honours) is a multidisciplinary degree that provides graduates with unique skills by bringing together studies in contemporary biology, biochemistry, pharmacology and essential chemistry. It encompasses all aspects of new drug design and development, from concept to clinic stages.
Many steps are involved from the design and synthesis of novel drug candidates, to their biochemical effects, testing regimes, and regulatory and ethical considerations. In your honours year, you will complete a supervised research project.

We offer a range of adjustment factor schemes that reward students for academic performance and extra-curricular achievements. These schemes also take into account a range of personal and educational disadvantages that may have affected your studies.Ìý

This scheme rewards students who perform well in Year 12 subjects that are relevant to their preferred ÁñÁ«¹ÙÍø degree. You may be awarded up to five points.Ìý

This program recognises achievements in the areas of sport, academia, leadership and music at an elite level. You may be eligible for up to five points.
Factors such as illness, financial hardship, language difficulties or attending a particular school can mean you don't always get the best possible marks in Years 11 and 12. If one of these situations applies to you, submit an application for the Educational Access Scheme (EAS) via UAC. Eligible students can receive between 1 and 10 points towards their chosen ÁñÁ«¹ÙÍø degree.

This scheme is open to students in Years 11 and 12 who attend Gateway schools. It significantly adjusts the ATAR requirements for your preferred ÁñÁ«¹ÙÍø degree and provides you with an early conditional offer to ÁñÁ«¹ÙÍø.Ìý

Full program structure
In this degree, you'll acquire a range of skills, ranging from fundamental chemistry enabling the synthesis and analysis of drug candidates, to relevant pharmacology and molecular biology skills.Ìý
The first year of the program provides foundational knowledge in fundamental areas of science, chemistry, mathematics, and biology as well as specific graduate attributes courses.
In your second and third year, you'll focus on chemistry, pharmacology, and biochemistry. There are also recommended electives to broaden your knowledge in relevant fields such as physiology, anatomy and genetics.
In your fourth year you'll dive deep into research, with projects that emphasise the interdisciplinary and collaborative nature of Medicinal Chemistry.Ìý

How to apply
Applications for undergraduate study from domestic students (Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents, Australian permanent humanitarian visa holders and New Zealand citizens) are processed by the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC).

Commonwealth Supported Place: Student Contribution Band 2
