The University is committed to providing comprehensive work health and safety training and induction to staff, contractors and researchers at .
Staff training
Visit our Sharepoint site to access the mandatory training modules for all staff. You will also find modules specifically for supervisors, Emergency Control Organisation (ECO) training and Lab Based training.
Student training
- Students are to request enrolment in required Moodle training courses through this .
- Currently there is no student version of the Liquid Nitrogen or Fume Cabinet Safety training courses (HSELNC, HSEFCS). You should reach out to your school’s health and safety advisor to be given training in these areas.
- Note: If you are a student but also have a staff profile, then please use the “staff” procedure above to enrol in and complete courses.

1. Do I have to complete the safety training before being allowed access into laboratories?
All staff and students must complete online health and safety training within a reasonable timeframe. These courses provide essential information for safe work practices at .
Local areas are responsible for conducting thorough inductions, including training on:
- Local area hazards and procedures.
- Salus for creating Safe Work Procedures (SWPs) and Risk Management Forms (RMFs)
- Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for specific tasks
- Lab techniques and equipment use to ensure competency and safe laboratory access.
2. I'm both a student and a staff member how do I enrol in training?
