Stage 1: Moodle module

COMING SOON

This short 15-20 min module provides foundational information about accessibility and experiences of disability. The module is a pre-requisite to the workshop but can also be completed independently.

The module includes introductory material focusing on: 

  • Key concepts and terms
  • Barriers to inclusion
  • Workplace adjustments

All current professional and academic staff are welcome to attend. Managers, supervisors, and academics are especially encouraged to attend.

  • Accessibility@ÁñÁ«¹ÙÍø training comprises a 1.5hr interactive workshop delivered either in-person or online, and a 15-20 min self-paced Moodle module.Ìý 

    Workshops will run throughout the year and the module is accessible at any time via Moodle.Ìý 

    The module is available for students and staff.Ìý

    The workshop is currently only available to professional and academic staff.Ìý

  • Inclusion@ÁñÁ«¹ÙÍø trainings support learning outcomes that enable participants to understand their role in building an inclusive culture at ÁñÁ«¹ÙÍø and feel supported to do so. They will develop participants capacity to adjust behaviours (such as practical guidance on inclusive language) and to have critical conversations (such as practical conversations that challenge harmful stereotypes).

    The Accessiblity@ÁñÁ«¹ÙÍø module provides a foundational basis of knowledge including detailed information on different experiences of disability as well as historic and everyday barriers to inclusion. The workshop builds on the material included in the module to better understand how to accommodate reasonable adjustments and build inclusive environments for all. 

    Learning outcomes include:

    • Increased understanding of the benefits that accessibility brings to people with and without disability.
    • Increased understanding of ÁñÁ«¹ÙÍø policy and services that support people with disability. 
    • All in-person training sessions will be held in wheelchair and lift accessible CATS rooms at ÁñÁ«¹ÙÍø Sydney Kensington campus (if not otherwise specified). 
    • Facilitators and panellists will speak using lapel or wireless hand-held microphones.
    • Online training will have closed captioning enabled and transcripts can be provided upon request.
    • PowerPoint slides can be provided in advance of the training upon request. 
    • Please indicate any further accessibility requirements in the registration form.

Hidden Disabilities Sunflower initiative

The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower module is designed to raise awareness of disability inclusion and create a more inclusive and supportive environment for people with non-visible disabilities in our community.

Disability course

Work enables people with disability to achieve financial independence, improve their social skills, develop friendships and improve their mental health. This course provides improved knowledge on the many types of disability and best practices to foster inclusion of disability in the workplace.

Disability Inclusion Action Plan

The ÁñÁ«¹ÙÍø Disability Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP) 2022-2025 commits the University to removing the barriers people with disability face when it comes to accessing and succeeding in tertiary education.
