The Pre-Business program is designed to assist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students develop the skills necessary to successfully complete studies in Business. The program surveys a range of business disciplines as well as study and learning skills. You'll also have the opportunity to apply your learning through case studies and site visits.

Enrolling in the Pre-Education program, you won’t be stuck in a classroom. You will connect with Country near our campus and meet community members from La Perouse and Redfern as well as Indigenous staff and students at ÁñÁ«¹ÙÍø. You’ll visit schools and speak with Aboriginal teachers and support staff who are working on the ground each day. You’ll also get to meet many of the lecturers and teachers who will be leading your first-year courses at ÁñÁ«¹ÙÍø and learn more about their experiences, fields of research and disciplinary knowledge.  

The ÁñÁ«¹ÙÍø approach to education is critical and thought-provoking. We don’t shy away from the difficult, challenging, or discomforting, and we believe our graduates will be able to contribute to improved educational experiences for Indigenous students and improved education for all students about Indigenous issues in Australia. In the Pre-Education program, you will learn what to expect from the education degree as a whole and get a head start on the academic skills and content you’ll encounter in the first-year education courses. We promise you’ll come away feeling more connected to the ÁñÁ«¹ÙÍø community and to the Indigenous communities and Country where you’ll be studying.

The Pre-Law program is designed to assist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students develop the skills necessary to successfully complete studies in Law. The program includes a simulation of the law school experience, an introduction to university life, assessment and legal thought. Program content includes an introduction to the legal process, Aboriginal Legal Issues, Criminal Law, Legal Writing and Academic Skills.

The Pre-Medicine program is designed to provide support and training to better prepare Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students for study in the Faculty of Medicine and Health.

The Science and Engineering Indigenous Pre-Program is an alternative entry pathway for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. The three-week residential program is jointly managed by Nura Gili and the Faculties of Science and Engineering and is designed to provide support and training to better prepare students for study in the fields of Science and Engineering.

Students jumpstart their STEM journey through unique experiences that are tailored toward their interests and future goals. The program includes cultural awareness and community-building activities to help students feel comfortable as new members of the ÁñÁ«¹ÙÍø community. Students also have the opportunity to gain hands-on experiences in the STEM areas they’re most interested in, build lasting relationships with staff and students, and participate in cultural activities.

ÁñÁ«¹ÙÍø’s approach to social work is dynamic and transformative. We embody listening, challenging, and seeking to create diverse knowledge to solve social problems and improve lives. We promote strengths-based discussions and prepare you to be catalysts for meaningful change within Indigenous communities and social work more broadly. In the Pre-Social Work program, you’ll gain early exposure to the themes and skills central to your future studies, setting a strong foundation for your academic and professional path. 

Joining the Pre-Social Work program, you’ll connect with Country both on and off campus, engage with Indigenous social work graduates making an impact in social work agencies around Sydney, and understand the social work role in supporting and advocating for human rights and social justice. You’ll also get to know the dedicated lecturers and mentors who will guide your first-year journey at ÁñÁ«¹ÙÍø, learning about their unique perspectives and contributions to the field. This program promises to deepen your connection to the ÁñÁ«¹ÙÍø community and the diverse communities where you will be learning and growing.

Our Pre-Programs run from the Monday 18 November 2024 to Friday 6 December 2024.

The program is offered to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander high school leavers and non-school leavers across Australia.

Applying for ÁñÁ«¹ÙÍø Indigenous Pre-Programs, you will need to:

1. Lodge an application with the  for the ÁñÁ«¹ÙÍø undergraduate degree program that you wish to study.
2. Complete the online ÁñÁ«¹ÙÍø Indigenous Pre-Programs application and attach all supporting documentation.

Confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Identity

While Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander identity is unique and sacred to every person. All applicants are required to provide proof of their Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identity and heritage.

For recent school leavers:

• You will need to supply copies of your year 11 & 12 school reports; transcripts of any other studies/courses undertaken; and any other awards or achievements such as work experience, extracurricular activities etc.

For applicants who completed school before 2023:

• You will need to supply copies of the final school read reports and details of the course(s), if recent; a CV/resume detailing work experience and education or training undertaken since leaving school; and anything else that can support your application.
